Corporate Atyachar by Radhakrishna Pillai |
Corporate Atyachar is a novel written by first-timer Abhay Nagarajan. This Comical Journey of an Office Doormat is a fun to read book. This is a story of a Finance post-graduate from Delhi University who is recruited by a wealth management firm in Bangalore. The company specializes in catering to the needs of High Net Income clients. The protagonist is made to work under an obnoxious boss and assist him in managing the investment requirements of a set of highly distinctive clients, who according to the author are weird.
Corporate Atyachar is set in the financial year 2007-08. During this time the stock market touched euphoric heights followed by a catastrophic crash during the global recession. Abhay takes on a novel approach and does not assign any name to the characters. Each of them however has nicknames based on what the narrator gives them. There are some interesting names given to the characters which stay with you for long. Yes, long after you have completed the book.
Dealing mainly with interesting interactions between the narrator and the HBS, the clients arrange for a series of meetings before and post the stock market fall. Most of the book is in the conversational form with humorous observations from the narrator. This book is really worth a read.
About The Author:
Abhay Nagrajan did schooling in Mumbai & Bangalore. I did my graduation from SRCC and followed that up with a Masters degree in finance (MFC) from University of Delhi. I worked as a financial advisor for a little over two years. Besides working or writing, I enjoy reading up on cricket statistics- my first love since class five. Corporate Atyaachaar is my debut novel.
